Jerolyn Crute Sackman's first creative role model was her grandmother: "Although she never would have called herself an artist, she was a talented crafter: sewing clothing, crocheting, making collages, and cooking. It was wonderful when she would teach me." Growing up in Los Angeles, Jerolyn studied flowers and butterflies in the yard of her family home and began a lifelong love of science and nature that would later inspire her work as a graphic designer, illustrator, and fine artist.
