What Makes It Uncommon

Worry stones, believed to have originated in ancient Greece, are smooth, polished gemstones held between fingers and rubbed for relaxation and relief from anxiety. In times of grief and loss, these stones are a comforting tool, offering solace through their tactile presence and calming effect on emotions. Scott Staats melds cremated remains into colorful, pocket-sized memorials to serve as a daily remembrance of a lost loved one.

  • After you send a teaspoon of your loved one's ashes to Scott's studio in the provided kit, the artist heats glass in a furnace until it reaches a molten state. He then adds a thin layer of the ashes to the material, creating a luminous white color with a subtle bubble texture. Scott returns it to the furnace and sculpts it into a worry-stone shape.
  • Choose from multiple colored designs to create a tribute that best represents your lost loved one.
  • The handmade stones vary slightly in size and weight, each featuring a concave underside that enhances their comfort when held in the hand.
  • Handblown in New Jersey.

NOTE: Once you order, we will send you an easy-to-use kit with very specific instructions and shipping materials (including a small tin, bag, and scoop) for sending a teaspoon of ashes to Scott's studio.

Scott Saats was born in Princeton, New Jersey. Although he worked as a helper at a glass studio in high school, he decided to focus on business in college. After a detour managing a car-rental office, Scott rediscovered his passion for glasswork. Scott says his work "brings joy by creating beauty, invoking thoughts and memories, blending colors, and capturing the imagination." In 2022, he fulfilled his dream of owning a studio, where his wife and two young daughters often visit to cheer him on.
