  • Tulianna and Alejandra work with artisans in their native Colombia to fashion these flowers from hand-cut calabash gourds, wood, cotton ribbon, and vivid, nontoxic dyes, using methods that are based in indigenous cultural traditions.
  • Because they’re crafted by hand, each piece (not just each pair) is one of a kind.

Tulianna Garcés was born in Colombia and raised on three continents speaking four languages. In 1985, when her first daughter, Alejandra, was born, she left the violence in Colombia for Vermont. After teaching art and theater to low-income families for a few years, she started a company to create collaborative relationships with artisans in troubled areas of Southeast Asia and South America. 10 years later, Tulianna, now in partnership with Alejandra, was working with over a dozen communities.
