They take mere seconds to install: Tap a hook or nail into a wall, hang the jute twine from it, and… done. No need to haul out the level, just balance it by hand.

In the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, or office, they can hold 13 pounds apiece of plants, toiletry items, books, photos, or your niece's clay sculpture of you (or your dog, you're not sure). Handy in small rooms without much floor space, they're downright genius in spots where you want to keep items like keys and sunglasses at eye level. Handmade in Moorestown, New Jersey.

Jamie Esslinger and Michael Smith are lifelong makers. Mike’s grandfather schooled him in traditional woodworking in his basement shop in Philadelphia. Jaime, a self-taught sewist, absorbs knowledge wherever it can be found. Both believe that working with your hands fulfills a basic human need, and are happiest when they’re covered in paint and sawdust. When they launched their own business, their goal was to leave hectic commutes and cubicles behind, and spend their days doing what they love. Everything they make is the result of hundreds of hours of trial and error, the accumulated knowledge of generations, mistakes, frustration, creativity, and thoughtfulness. They infuse love and care into each item they make, as it is these items that have made it possible for them to live the life they always dreamed of.
