Whether it’s a window box, a compact backyard, or a vast garden, any outdoor green space has the potential to help pollinators thrive, which is so important for the health of our environment. But do you know which plants and flowers are best for attracting busy bees and other pollen-loving visitors? Join pro gardening coach
Janice Brown for this live virtual class where you’ll learn the basics of planting a pollinator sanctuary, no matter where you live or what size garden you have.
- Class begins with unboxing the Honeybee Garden Seed Kit (see Comes with the class, below) and reviewing the other materials you’ll be using for your garden.
- Janice will walk you through the basics of which plants are the most attractive to pollinators—covering annuals, perennials, nectar, host, and edible plants—and why you'll want to include your area's native plants in your garden plans.
- For those with limited garden real estate, Janice will offer suggestions for the best patio plants, both flowering and edible. (Fun fact: Having attractive flowers next to edible plants increases the chances of better pollination and may yield a more abundant crop of fruits or veggies.)
- Next, you’ll roll up your sleeves for a seed-planting lesson: Learn how to start seeds indoors, proper planting technique, seed depth and arrangement, best lighting for germination, and when and how to transplant your seedlings to their garden beds.
- Class will close with tips on plant care, including watering, feeding, and next steps for success.
Class length: 90 minutes.
Comes with the class: Our
Honeybee Garden Seed Kit includes six varieties of bee-favorite flower seeds (like Siberian wallflower and gloriosa daisy), along with grow pots, soil pellets, and other basics for making your pollinator garden grow.
