Flowers are lovely to look at, but why stop there? Whether you’re an avid gardener or you just can’t resist picking up a bouquet at the farmers' market, you can turn those beautiful blooms into all-natural fashion statements. Eco-printing is the art of transferring the shapes and colors of real flowers onto fabric, and you’ll learn how to do it yourself in this one-hour live virtual class with teacher and crafter Shannon Sadler.
The class comes with our Eco-Printing With Flowers Natural Dye Kit, which includes a ready-to-print cotton bandanna, plant-based dyes, and real pressed flowers from her garden in New York’s Hudson Valley. After an introduction to your tools and the eco-printing process, you’ll start designing your floral layout. Next, Shannon will walk you through the dyeing steps (you’ll be able to use an ordinary vegetable steamer basket for this). While your bandanna is steaming, she’ll explain other essentials you need to know to achieve the best and most long-lasting results. Once the fabric has cooled down, you’ll unroll and reveal your one-of-a-kind finished design.
By the end of class, you’ll have the skills to use eco-printing for all sorts of projects—think clothing, bedding, tote bags, and more—as you transform your favorite flowers into forever, wearable art.
