When you make a wish and blow on a dandelion, its seeds float out into the world carrying your hopes and dreams. Britta Ambauen’s necklace represents the same concept, for mothers. The elegant design features a sterling silver pendant etched with a dandelion. Next to it are moonstone seeds representing the children that Mom has imbued with love and prepared for a lifetime of their own adventures. Continuing the theme, the biodegradable paper that bears the necklace is embedded with the seeds of 15 flowers, including snapdragons, petunias and daisies—so she can be the proud parent of plant babies, too. Paper handmade in Nepal. Necklace handmade in Washington.

Britta Ambauen likes to infuse the ideas she contemplates most into her jewelry, and hopes her pieces will help remind others of their own thoughts and wishes. Utilizing a wide variety of materials and techniques, including wire wrapping, bezel setting, and etching, her eclectic accessories balance simplicity and intricacy, sophistication and youthfulness.

Much of Britta's work is inspired by the strong female figures in her life.

Care

Use a jewelry-safe polishing cloth to gently remove tarnish and dirt from pendant and chain.

Notes

Each necklace comes on a handmade paper card that is made in Nepal in an environmentally friendly process. Not only can you recycle it, you can compost it or even plant it and watch flowers bloom! The seeds will grow in North America in partial shade, and include Snapdragon, Petunia, Daisy, Thyme, Poppy, Foxglove, Maiden Pinks, and Chamomile. Cover the paper in 1/8" of soil and keep moist until established.
