Nice idea, mediocre quality

My husband purchased this for me as a Christmas gift. The light itself is fine. Works well, doesn't look tacky. My issue is the pod quality. We've tried several sets of pods, and without fail, there is always a defective one (will not bloom) even though we have followed the directions. Then inevitably the other two pods will develop mold on the dirt and before anything will sprout, the plant begins to wither and die. So basically in order for us to get any type of product, we have to wait for the plant to die. My husband was really excited to get this for me, as I detest gardening. He is disappointed and refuses to get additional pods to try. For the price, we expect better. Me, I am fine with tossing this and never seeing it again. Seems like a waste of materials and space.

Talk about convenient! Small enough to fit on the window sill, which is great as its basically out of sight. There is a small sound when it cycles the lights and water on and off. Only need to water it once a month and then just each month after that. Basil pods grow delicious, fresh, leaves that sprouted in about 3-5 days and after about 2 weeks were producing edible leaves. We did purchase the strawberry pods as a bonus but we haven't used them yet. If they are anything like the basil pods i can see this being a life long investment.

Great for small place in winter

My 20-something daughter loves to garden. This garden was perfect for winter until she can get back outside in her garden. We didn't really need to read the directions to put it together. It has extra arms to raise the light bar higher when the plants grow. You have to buy the seed pods that come with it. We were hoping we could use our own seeds. This garden is great for small spaces and is very easy to use! #sweepstakes.

Great Gift for a Gardener

Everyone Loves This Gift

I now have bought 5 of these Click and Grow systems. I have two at my office, one at my home, my husband has one at his office and we just set up one for my mother. It is extremely satisfying to eat tomatos that you have grown in your living room. It seems almost crazy that you can cook with basil that you grew on your kitchen counter in the middle of winter. My plan is to give everyone one of these as a family gift for Christmas. I think the kids will love them.

Are the seed pods organic?

There are no pesticides, fungicides, insecticides, plant hormones or any other suspicious substances in the kit. Although the mineral salts the makers use are chemically the same as in all organic fertilizers, in most countries it cannot be certified as "organic".

This uses LED lights that are very long lasting. They can last 50-60,000 working hours, so you don't have to change them.

Great news - they can remain in the container! These are mini tomatoes and strawberries, so the smart garden is designed to allow them to continue growing until they mature and become fruit bearing!

can you use your own seeds with this product?

The refills include soil capsules designed for use with this grow kit with the seeds safely tucked away inside. We don't recommend using soil directly in the grow kit, so it would be difficult to use loose seeds.

Can this be used outdoors in a covered lanai? How long does it take for the plants to grow typically? Thanks!

Yes, you can put it outdoor as long as you can plug in the electric cord (about 6 feet long). Also, plants need 8 hours daily of dark, so as long as your Click and Grow’s 8 hours off roughly coincides with the hours after sundown in your area, the sunlight won’t hurt the plants at all during the day. Most plants sprout within 1-2 weeks, with fruiting plants taking up to 3 weeks in some cases.
