You know chocolate and coffee go together lusciously, but do you know that there’s real science behind the perfection of this pairing? The dark delicacies have similar botanical origins and, thanks to nearly identical production methods, their flavor profiles are literally made for each other. In this live virtual experience, professional roaster and brewer
Julien Langevin will teach you to appreciate the subtleties of chocolate and coffee by tasting and appraising this classic combo the way the experts do.
- Learn the side-by-side cupping technique that pros use to evaluate beans and brews—no coffee maker required.
- Discover the ideal temperature (yep, there is one) for savoring chocolate at its most intensely flavorful.
- Refine your palate by sampling the coffees and chocolates separately, and then noticing how their flavors change when paired.
- Practice several rounds of tasting to identify subtle notes of fragrance, body, and flavor.
- At the end of class, reveal the origin and profile of each sample to find out how closely your own appraisal matches the real thing.
